Spy thriller Dhurandhar reigns as top Hindi earner

Ranveer Singh starrer ‘Dhurandhar’ has scripted history by becoming the highest grossing Hindi film ever with nett collections of Rs 831.40 crore in India by the end of its 33rd day. Directed by Aditya Dhar the spy action thriller has outpaced Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa 2’ and even Sultan in its Hindi run sustaining strong performance into the fifth week despite competition. The film added Rs 5.70 crore nett on Tuesday January 6 maintaining top position at the box office driven by repeat viewership and audience turnout.

‘Dhurandhar’ features Ranveer Singh in the lead as Hamza an Indian operative infiltrating terror networks in Lyari Karachi with key roles by Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt and R Madhavan. Its massive scale gripping action sequences and engaging storyline have been hailed as reasons for the blockbuster success with Yash Raj Films calling it a milestone moment in Indian cinema. Aditya Dhar thanked YRF for the praise noting influences from Yash Chopra classics like Deewar and Darr while Ranveer expressed pride in making the studio proud.

The film’s collections break down to Rs 218 crore in week one Rs 261.5 crore in week two Rs 189.3 crore in week three and Rs 115.7 crore in week four showing remarkable legs even as daily earnings stabilise below Rs 6 crore. Globally it has sustained a record run without a Middle East release underscoring its pan India and international appeal. Industry observers see this as a testament to bold storytelling and star power reshaping Hindi cinema benchmarks.
