Does shaving legs cause ‘strawberry legs’?

Here are a few ways to get rid of it

Have you noticed red patches on your legs specifically after shaving? You must be having ‘strawberry skin’.

Founder of Inatur, Pooja Nagdev who is also an aromatherapist and cosmetologist, there can be many reasons due to which the upper layer of skin can look like this, if pores on the skin tends to be black and seems like the seed on strawberries, you must be suffering from this skin disorder.

According to her, black dots on the skin appear due to ingrown hair and open pores. She further explains that many people confuse this skin condition with keratosis pilaris also known as chicken skin .

Four steps to get rid of  strawberry legs:

Exfoliation

Exfoliating is an essential step before shaving, especially when you have blackheads. All you need to do is pick up a good quality scrub and scrub your skin while bathing. This will help you in getting soft skin.

Are you shaving correctly?

The way you shave your skin matters. People often use harsh razors and equipment due to lack of time which causes dryness. According to Pooja Nagdev, one should choose a moisturizing shaving cream before shaving. This will be smoother on skin and will not cause dryness.

Epilator can be the best choice

Shaving and waxing can cause folliculitis. Use of an epilator can make your work easier. Epilator is an electrical device that rotates and pulls out the hair from the root.

It can avoid clogged pores.

Use of moisturizer

Strawberry skin is caused due to dryness. Nagdev says that after taking shower gently massage your body with a body lotion or a moisturizer. This will help in hydrating the skin. If you want to get rid of this skin condition, repeat this process everyday.
